Blackmailer in Chief

Listen bub, leave twenty-five billion dollars in a brown paper bag in the ‘YUGE’ trash can on 5th Avenue, I would hate to see something happen to your children… The Trump administration is demanding a ransom for the more than two-thousand children who have been separated from their frantic and displaced moms and dads. People cross the borders of America for aid and comfort, they do it because they are not happy where they are. It is not complicated or nefarious, it is simply a search for peace—in most cases. Ask yourself, what makes a black, brown, red or yellow person any different? I grew up in this country wanting an education, a job, a home, a car and a happy family. That dream is not exclusive to white people. It is actually the commonality that binds the community of man.

Part of the President’s plan to stop, not only illegal but legal immigration, is to mentally torture parents, frighten children and demand a ransom from the American people. As far back as December of 2017, the trial balloon of torturing families by separating them was floated by the Trump administration. The proposal was aimed specifically at children from Central America and Mexico. A particularly insidious part of the plan is to collect data by the detention of children gathered by the Department of Homeland Security and HHS so as to deport them and their parents at a later date,“That aspect of the effort would use data collected by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to target parents for deportation after they attempt to regain custody of their children from government shelters.”

The Trump administration denied this at the time and labeled it as” unpalatable.” Now the strategy, it seems, is to transfer blame to the Obama administration, for the policy, but take credit for the cruelty. The Republicans have proposed a solution that asks for a 25-billion-dollar payment for a border wall (you know the one Mexico was going to pay for) revisions to the visa lottery program and assurances of a path to citizenship for DACA recipients, but wait… All these caveats are dependent upon a 25 billion dollar non-negotiable ransom payment.  Of course, the President having no knowledge or nuance of policy or procedure has said in a 48-hour period, that he would, and would not sign the bill if passed. Legislation by threat and torture is starting to sound an awful lot like the type of repressive regimes in other parts of the world.  Maybe if we would all just sit at attention when Trump speaks, that may help.

It is a nasty business when the President of the United States threatens Americans using children as a blackmail tactic; especially one who is proving he will use any method available not to be wrong. The same President, who two weeks ago speculated on the right or wrong of his deal with North Korea, said, "I don't know that I'll ever admit that, but I'll find some kind of an excuse, is now being sued for operating a fraudulent charity foundation by the state of New York. This President is engaging in an open blackmail attempt sanctioned by Republicans in the United States Congress. Hold on tightly to your children America, a blue light detention camp special may be coming soon to a Walmart near you.
