This is not a plug for the Thom Hartmann liberal radio show but an interesting hypothesis was posed by a caller, a few days ago, the caller wanted to know why liberals are so hypocritical? His example was the fact that Bernie Sanders and his wife purchased a lake front summer home at a cost of 600,000 dollars www.vanityfair.com/.... I am never sure why the accumulation of wealth is a bad thing for liberals and a good thing for conservatives. Is it envy or selfishness? Senator Sanders never advocated for liberals to live in a manger but that they have a fair shot at lake front property too. Somehow this notion that begging for a morsel of bread while carrying a sign is illustrative of a prototypical liberal is insane. Conservatives do not have a monopoly on success. One of the most successful and riches families to send an offspring to the White House are the Kennedy family.
It can be argued the tactics and morality of the Kennedy clan often came into question, but their altruism has never been disputed. The ability to lounge in the lap of luxury, sip from a crystal brandy snifter while enjoying a summer breeze is something out of Gatsby, but true giving comes when the call to serve exposes your warts to a society looking for unblemished heroes. The Kennedy(s) had warts and I am sure so does Senator Sanders. The money for the Sanders’ new purchase was part of an inheritance. Throughout his primary election tour de force of a total of 22 candidates, of both parties, no one ever questioned Mr. Sanders’ sincerity or honesty. I was and am a Hillary guy but at no point would I have viewed a Sanders victory as a disappointment.
I guess for the next few years I must listen to the many who were duped, by the fake populism of Donald Trump, drone on about how the new oligarchy is for the people. I can hear Bernie with that famous bastardized New York/ Vermont accent talking about the Bill-ya-nairs and mill-ya-nairs right now. He made a clarion call warning against precisely what is happening to our beloved country. Trump’s proposed Cabinet is more wealthy than 1/3 of the country’s working low income Americans...
. This seems to fall on deaf ears when it comes to the supporters blinded by the fame, celebrity and alleged income of Donald J. Trump. The Trump Cabinet will be vetted by the FBI and have their tax records poured over by his transition team. The American people are transitioning into a life with a new President, who we have no idea to whom he owes money, how much, or at what cost to him, his country and ultimately us. So, in the next few days you’ll hear the cries of liberal hypocrisy from Rush, Hannity, Ingraham and conspiratorialist Alex Jones, consider the source and cringe accordingly. Senator Sanders deserves his moment in the sun and in this case, literally. I hope his wife Jane is holding his hand as they gaze over the beauty of Lake Champlain.
