Running Scared

Last week the cruel asylum denial policies of the Trump administration directly contributed to the death of 7-year-old, Jackeline Caal.  The United States has long stood as a haven for people escaping unspeakable violence, and degradation.  Whether you take the conservative view of, blame the family, or the liberal view of ‘give me your tired your poor’ the young victim, Jackeline Caal, is becoming the collateral damage to the fight between competing forces.  To their credit, Democrats are sending a delegation of 11 to the area to get answers.  Sunday the Trump distraction machine came out in full force and after three days of failed messaging from Kirstjen Nielsen and WH deputy press secretary Hogan Gidley, they brought out the prince of darkness yesterday, Stephen Miller.

Everything about Stephen Miller makes your skin crawl from his racist sentiments that go as far back as high school, to his defiant first appearances on television where he declared the President will not be questioned, “period.”

So what better guy to drag out of the bat cave when you are defending a deliberate murder and one could argue, an accidental murder in less than six months.  The fact that videos and writings can be easily found of Stephen Miller’s racist views and that the two deaths were of brown people, I am sure, had no bearing on the choice by the White House to have him spew his venom nationally Sunday.  I give credit to most of the media that have dismissed Miller as a borderline lunatic (the real story is that he is that close to the President) but are again stuck in the ramblings of TV lawyer Rudy Giuliani.

Giuliani has again and again discredited himself and in turn the President more than once. His latest exposure of another Trump lie came yesterday when he [Giuliani] said Trump may have been dealing with Russia on the Trump/Moscow-tower deal as late as November of 2016, despite the President saying repeatedly, on the campaign trail, he had no dealings with Russia during that time frame.

The once-funny Giuliani rabbit hole is becoming less entertaining daily. Maybe out of the New York media’s inability to let go of his America’s Mayor moniker after 9/11 they still cover his every confused utterance.  Trump does deserve credit for his marvelous manipulation skills.  No one confronts him on his wildly absurd call and response act during his rallies, “ who is gonna pay for the wall?” response from the crowd: “ Mexico!” The media has conveniently forgotten that and goes along with the ‘both sides do it’  and advances the argument over the choice of 5 billion dollars for the wall or a government shutdown.

Once the tax bill failed miserably to help the middle class, the President pointed to the stock market. Now that the market has lost all of its gains from the previous year, he no longer mentions it.  Prior to the midterms, I was told to lock all my doors, arm myself and build a moat because the caravan is coming. After a series of devastating midterm losses, the caravan is no longer a problem. Now that his [Trump] Russia troubles are front and center again, he has resorted to condoning murder and transferring blame for a child’s death to the grieving parents. I guess the President armed on 5th Avenue is not as far-fetched as it seems.

Vote in 2020 for Change.
