I Made the Flag an Issue, What More Do you Want?

Is it me, or am I just too ultra-sensitive to Republican chicanery? I check my news feed generally before I start my day and the first thing I saw this morning was an alleged campaign fundraising violation by Congresswoman Ludmya Mia Love (R-UT.). Sure, money making schemes are not exclusive to the Republican Party, but the arrogance of the violations seem more heinous than the crimes. Love reportedly collected campaign donations to participate in a non-existent primary. Love received her Party’s nomination for a third term in April eliminating the necessity for a primary but continued to raise money in excess of a million dollars. On the lawn of the White House Congressman Chris Collins (R-NY) made phone calls, in full view of cameras, warning his son and assorted members of his son’s fiancée’s family about a failed clinical drug trial and had them pull investment money from the drug company Innate Immunotherapeutics; a blatant violation of the Security Exchange Commission laws. Again, money making schemes are not unique to Republicans but the public disrespect is staggering. Collins, incidentally, was the first Congressional representative to deem the Trump Campaign, ‘a movement.’ It appears this movement and its followers need a good wiping. On the heels of the Collins revelations, comes the deplorable Congressman Duncan Hunter (R-CA). Hunter along with his wife, Margaret, whom he later blamed for their financial malfeasance, were both indicted for some of the grosses forms of avarice seen in American politics this year.

Hunter used tax payer’s money to fly a rabbit (no, not the old car) the Bugs Bunny type from California to Washington D.C. via United Airlines for 250 dollars, according to page 27 of a 47 page indictment. If you include airline tickets for family, friends and the rabbit, it amasses a total of about 15,000 dollars. Most egregiously Hunter was charging golf equipment and trendy pairs of shorts to his campaign and attributing the expenditure to the Wounded Warriors Project. Sure—sure Democrats have their Bob Menendez, who was found not guilty of his charges to be fair, and other assorted members who have stolen, bribed, lied and violated the rights of women but the condemnation from Democrats immediately follows; ask Al Franken. Republicans seem to revel in the corruption like a purifying bath and wash the back of the most openly corrupt leader this nation has seen in its history, “believe me.” Instead of singing I want to be like Mike and wearing Nike gear, they chant I want to be like Trump and do much worse than kneeling, they ignore the principle that ultimately bound the country, “the rule of law.” The Premium cable channels have the movie Scarface in their current rotation, and a line from the movie epitomizes today’s Republican Party, “…even when I lie I tell the truth.” Republicans have become so jaded and have been mesmerized by the phony gangster bravado of Donald Trump that they have created their own sense of justice
