The Loss of Bravery

The courage to give in is grossly underestimated, much like admitting a weakness or congratulating your opponent in contest, the concept of being brave enough to GIVE IN is widely misunderstood.

The Republican Party is stuck in a mode of science denial, human rights denial and voter suppression, all things they are either too afraid to publicly oppose or brave enough to acknowledge.  Cocooned in the semantic shell of political correctness, the attacks on the under-represented is in full bloom.  Led by xenophobia, racial prejudice and fear, the big “C” conservative movement in America, is repeating the mistakes of its past.  Set aside personal animus, for those who are different from you, it makes little economic sense to foster an underclass and condemn them to permanent second class status.  The reduction in the amount of money that circulates, constricts the life blood of the one-percent and the prohibition of success for the working class and the poor, is eventual financial suicide.

The common sense basis of the oft quoted, “A rising tide lifts all boats” is so shockingly simplistic, disputes are raised just for the sake of argumentative complication.

The ideology of disruption has so taken over the Conservative movement, in this country, any idea of compromise (re: giving in) is considered a fireable offense.  There lies the rub, the country’s well-being has become a casualty to personal avarice. Republicans have found the perfect accomplice for their grab for power, a constituency that has been cultivated since the Reagan era. They have convinced their voters that casting ballots against their own interest and dreaming of the day when imagined multi-millions won’t be taxed, is just around the corner.  Conservatism has become a religion.  Praying for the stoppage of Climate change, warring and raging against Islam and trying ever so hard to maintain the purity of “White Privilege.” Representative Louie Gohmert(R-Texas) even spoke in tongues, accusing former Attorney General Holder of quote, “casting aspersions on his asparagus,” during a Congressional inquiry. Gohmert later claimed he used the Percy Foreman quote to bring down the temperature of the heated hearing.  Like most misled by zealotry, his followers blamed his, abuse and misuse of the language, on those who pointed out its absurdity.  Somewhere out there, the bravery of some (real)rogue Republican will someday be on display and the words, ‘I think that’s a wise compromise’ will be uttered in full view of cameras.  Saying, “I give in” would be considered heresy so I won’t ask for that, after all, what would Saint Ronnie say?
