A dead girl or a live boy has been re-purposed by Republicans. Now it is either a live Democrat or a morally dead pedophile. For years amoral behavior has been defined by politicians through the victim. This gave rise to the theory of, you would rather get caught with a dead under-aged girl than a live boy. The homophobic implications are obvious but now it has graduated to pure partisanship. A southern state, Alabama, nestled in the bosom of the Bible belt is willing to throw their savior and literally Mary and Joseph under the donkey.
The Alabama State auditor, Jim Zeigler, has bestowed deification on Senate candidate Roy Moore, analogizing Moore in the role of Joseph to accuser Leigh Corfman’s Mary. Zeigler either got some good Jerusalem wacky weed or is rewriting six thousand years of Christian history; I hope he is affixed with a good lightning rod.
Despite the absurdity of a pseudo high minded religious argument by low-minded molester defenders, we have a serious issue. We have jumped the shark and left America’s values in its wake. I am not going to concede some even-handed, both sides do it stance, the reason I am a Democrat is that we learn and self-correct. John Kennedy, Bill Clinton and other Democrats who once sparked rib poking jokes are now derided in serious harassment dialogue. Anthony Weiner is in an orange jumpsuit, Bill Clinton was arguably a part of his wife’s downfall, Harvey Weinstein is a pariah and America’s dad, Bill Cosby, is fighting a public divorce.
However, Donald Trump literally and figuratively grabbed his way into the White House. David Vitter (R-La.) was re-elected in 2007 to the Senate after a multi-layered sex scandal, and now Roy Moore. Not only does he stand a good chance of winning the Alabama Senate seat, he is being backed officially by the Alabama RNC.
Caught Democratic scoundrels lose and disappear, caught Republicans scoundrels take immorality to public office and revel in their piety. Honestly, the adventures of consenting adults do not make me think your qualifications for office are compromised. Anthony Weiner terrorized a fifteen-year-old girl and deserves to serve every nanosecond of his sentence. The DNC even though their Presidential candidate’s personal assistant, Huma Abedin, was married to Weiner did not defend him. Alabama voter, you are now faced with the same dilemma, for those of you who 140-character(ed) Weiner into oblivion, bravo. For you Alabamians who are now hiding behind that thick, ornately covered Bible you tote to church on Sundays and still back Moore, he is not Lazarus and no weeping is required.
Roy Moore, who now says he doesn’t even remember Ms. Corfman or would never date a “girl” without her parent’s permission, deserves his own colony away from decent people. If he brings a smartphone, Anthony will welcome him with open arms, if not more.
