Democrats…Fight Back, except you Hillary

The thing that makes me a liberal Democrat, not a progressive, an Independent, an anarchist or a Blue Dog, is a simple credo; The prerequisite willingness to accept change, coupled with the skills to implement it.

Part of that change and implementation is recalculating and accepting the loss, and Hillary knows both well.  From her days as a Goldwater girl to HillaryCare and losses to Obama and Trump she has had a quiet metamorphosis, most are loathed to ever credit her for.  She admitted the pain and “hurt” by having millions of people dislike Hillary for being Hillary in her newly released book but in that process, she overlooks the people who like Hillary for being Hillary.

If she acknowledged that as part of her id, it would be looked upon as Clinton’s insular view of herself, so as Hillary is prone to do, she avoided the issue.  It is often said that both Bill and Hillary Clinton look at themselves as being above the law, convention, and critique.  After years of a hard scrabble fight against mainly unfounded scandals and cemented antipathy the hardened shell of resentment around them cannot be shattered even with a jackhammer. I can feel the gritting of teeth by critics reading this and perceiving it as some sort of unenlightened flattery. That is a shame. She has a been a good Democratic voice, mind you I did not say a perfect Democratic voice.

I have no illusions about Hillary’s attachments to business or her corporate leanings.  My problem is why are her sins so much worse than others, dare I say it, MISOGYNY, [followed by rolling of eyes, pounding of a fist, head shaking and exasperated sighs] just giving you a moment to let it all out. Seriously, what makes Hillary this ogre that those who are against her cannot forgive? What measure of imperfection is so associated with Hillary, that no room for error in judgment or demeanor is allowed?  Seldom do I hear policy criticisms as the first hesitation. I hear as the initial critique, oh Hillary, I can’t trust her, or, the Clintons,’ sheesh.

For you football fans, what this reminds me of is the NFL Combine, a contrived mini decathlon work out fest, that disregards four previous years of performance into, what did you do yesterday.  Hillary has supported every Democratic reform since the New Deal but she insulted women taking about wanting to be more than a cookie baker, "I suppose I could have stayed home and baked cookies and had teas, but what I decided to do was fulfill my profession, which I entered before my husband was in public life," I am not a woman, I suppose those comment could make me chafe, if I were, but does it warrant 25 years of anger?  The lingering, super-predator comments, were widely hated by most in my community. It always seems to overshadow her work in housing and school discrimination cases. The political adage of, what you do is more important than what you say, does not apply to Mrs. Clinton; again, does the M-word apply?

Men get to change their minds, say stupid things (see current White House occupant) and shrug their shoulders and claim, I misspoke.  In the case of Mr. Trump, you can lie, announce you are a sexual predator and be excused as being, just a man.  Hillary has the right to speak without being told to go away, just like Bernie, Mitt or John after a devastating loss. We call men senior statesman, we label her a bitter shrew.  If you want Hillary to go away just change the channel or don’t buy her book, but try and refrain from telling a woman to, just shut up!
