Mother, May I?

At a joint press conference with British Prime Minister Theresa May today, President Trump said,“we’re no longer going to be, the country that doesn’t know what it’s doing.”www.onenewspage.com/.... I am not sure of that, we made him President.

I live in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and got a close look at the man in the highest office in the world.  He has fallen so in love with the trappings of power that lying has become his stock and trade. The President spoke at something called the GOP retreat last night and made a claim that the murder rate is so steady that living hear is untenable, “Here in Philadelphia the murder rate has been steady, I mean just terribly increasing,” he said abc.com/....  No murder statistic, above zero, is good but unfortunately, we do not live in a utopia.

The rate is unacceptable… but I am so bored with hearing the stereotypical descriptions of urban population centers, for the sake of his voters, I could scream.

If you look at the statistics, except for a rise during the height of the George W. Bush economic crisis, the acceleration of murders corresponds with the 10-year rise of conservative congressional victories following the 2010 and 2012 elections.  The rate has not gone exponentially out of control as the President would have you believe.  As a matter of fact, from 2007 to 2016 the rate has dropped from 391 murders annually to 277.  I am not here to lay blame on or for the senseless violence of any group, organization or community.  My rage is about the blatant racism of a leader who uses the hopelessness, despair and insanity that leads men to murder, as a tool to rile a base of neo-Nazis calling themselves the Alt-Right.

I had hoped to never hear myself say the President of the United States is a liar!  Not misspoke, is in error or misinterpreted the data, but just plain lies.

For days now we have been distracted by his tweets about crowd size, alternative facts from aides and public disputes with Mexican President, Enrique Peña Nieto.  I watched our President today stand next to a world leader and pale in comparison, in every aspect, manners, command and decorum.  He turned the press conference into a real-life SNL skit as usual.  A joke about the press, an obvious ignorance about world affairs or our complicated relationship with NATO.  At one point when asked about the British response to the public rift between Mr. Trump and Mr. Peña Nieto he inferred Britain held no interest, to which Theresa May looked incredulous and deferred; obviously, to not point out the foolishness of such a statement.  As Mr. Trump pointed out, sixty billion dollars of trade “deficits” between the countries along with the economic ties between the US and England, the interest is clear.

He is feeding his crowd, of the politically un-savvy, the raw meat of prejudice that fills the belly but poisons the heart.  I wore my 2009 Obama Inauguration shirt all day during the Trump installation. I was not trying to incite anger or ill will toward his followers.  I wanted to hang onto eight years of dignity and respect. I don’t think I will be wearing a Trump Inauguration t-shirt in 2020.

Vote 2018, it’s not too late!
