I am mad at Hillary Clinton. Hold it, hold it, before you start shutting down this page, I have not lost my mind, nor am I casting a vote for Donald Trump, Jill Stein or Gary Johnson, too much is at stake to hold my breath and pout.
I am not only mad at Hillary Clinton but at Tim Kaine and all the other Democratic apologist for not acknowledging that she was right in calling a large swath of Trump supporters DEPLORABLE. In recent days we have had a teacher’s aide in Georgia, Jane Wood Allen, call Michelle Obama a gorilla; former South Carolina state election commission chairman Rusty DePass repeat a similar unimaginative joke on his Facebook page and a young mother, Jennifer Mau, and her disabled daughter, hectored and escorted under armed guard from a Trump rally in, ironically, Loveland, Colorado, Monday night.
What do all these events have in common, SUPPORTERS OF DONALD J. TRUMP!
Time after time we have heard the old adage, ‘not all Republicans are racist but it seems all racist are Republicans.’ As a Black man in America, I would be a fool to think that there are not plenty of Democrats who are racist but Republicans are so willing to proudly and publicly claim the mantel. Not only for racism, but sexism, anti-choice, anti LGBTQ rights or anything that does not look or sound like them, White, angry and dare I say it, Christian, what an oxymoron. I listened carefully to Race Bannon, ehh Governor Mike Pence recite the virtues of a Trump administration on America, and ironically it sounded like 1964 the year the cartoon Jonny Quest premiered on ABC. Women stripped of the right to choose, no Civil Rights Act, creationism taught in schools and let’s keep them foreigners out.
I make light of some of the horrendous consequences of a Trump presidency because in truth sometimes you do have to laugh to keep from crying. Seriously folks this is not a laughing matter. If you ponder the past nine months of Donald’s verbal atrocities, it is a difficult task because there are so many. I suppose he took his cue from Ronald Reagan who started his campaign by going to the site of the most egregious civil rights murder in America, Neshoba County Mississippi. In his own effort to repeat this feat Mr. Trump started by demonizing Mexicans. Pick a scapegoat of color, rally the white troops and begin the war.
Oddly enough President Reagan who was an economic disaster to the middle class (destroying unions and affordable education) is heralded as one of the great Presidents; why, because he made America symbolically White again. He we are twenty-six years later on the edge of finishing what Reagan started, Robin Hood economics. This time we have a ne’er do well candidate, who thinks preparation is a sin, knowledge is powerless and a good catch phrase will make him the heavyweight champion of the world. Hillary, when you are right you are right.
Vote 2016!
