Well, I have been away for six weeks recovering from cancer surgery and few things have changed. When I left you Donald Trump was attacking the innocent, the Gold Star family of Army Captain Humayun Khan. He bashed the late war hero’s mother as a cowering Muslim afraid to speak up at the Democratic convention. Now it is Alicia Machado’s turn, a former Miss Universe, whom Mr. Trump has decided deserves to suffer the wrath of an early morning tweet fest and angry male hatred.
I keep hearing that his tirades are preludes to his pivot to a more presidential posture. What you see is what Donald Trump is, a racist, misogynistic bore, hell bent of feeding his fragile ego at the expense of those he considers weaker than him. The sad state of affairs is exacerbated by his need to strike out like a child and in most cases hide behind the skirts of his daughter or spokesperson Kellyanne Conway and odd juxtaposition to say the least. On one hand he denigrates women for his own amusement, “fat Rosie” when he speaks of comic Rosie O’Donnell, “look at her face” when referring to former Republican Presidential candidate Carly Fiorina and “crooked Hillary,” it never stops with this guy. He then clings to his female protectors while grasping at their apron strings.
There has been lots of amateur psychoanalyzing of Donald Trump by pundits and political surrogates, I don’t want to fall into that trap. So I will stick to factual statements and observations and allow you to draw your own conclusions.
I mentioned the Khan Family/Trump debacle some six weeks ago and I think it gives you an insight into what a Trump presidency would look like:
Trump: Wonder what the little guy in North, South, whatever, Korea is doing?
Kim Jong-Un: The hair on that guy is ridiculous, not as suave as me,
Trump: Talk about hair, Moe Howard should be so jealous, believe me…
Imagine a constant barrage of that nonsense when Trump, a notorious insomniac, awakes at 3.am and is bored. With those sorts of unfiltered childish tirades, challenging someone as unstable as the supreme leader of North Korea has proven to be, we will all need to hold onto our wigs.
