I got a peek at the first draft of Melania Trump’s memoire and the opening line begins with the words, two-score and six years ago.
Okay, okay that was a cheap attempt at writing something clever but so is plagiarism. Donald Trump once said, “I know words, I have the best words…” apparently he neglected to loan a few to his wife. Melanie Trump not only, allegedly, stole the words of the current First Lady of the United States but she may have even stolen one of Icelandic singer Björk’s dress designs. The enraptured audience was so enthralled by the obvious and admitted beauty of Melania Trump, they had no idea they were applauding the words of the wife of the most hated man in Republican politics.
From the beginning of the RNC debacle last night, starting with a member of the Duck Dynasty conglomerate, Scott Baio saying that Donald Trump was doing this, “from his heart” to the screeching and raving Rudy Giuliani, could this get any worse. The world must truly believe that America has lost its collective mind. Trump’s complete lack of truth, candor and inability to admit mistakes is breathtaking. This past Sunday Donald Trump, when asked in an interview, about Mike Pence’s support of the Iraq War, answered by saying, “I don’t’ care.” The man has made this the hallmark of why he believes Hillary Clinton has bad judgment and is not qualified to be President. He did not even attempt an explanation of Pence’s past position or his decision, just the words, “I don’t care.”
I have reached a milestone; I am no longer shocked by anything that comes out of the Trump camp. I would sit with my mouth open at his pronouncements but I am now, more than ever, convinced that the Republican party is very happy with overt hate and racism. Iowa Republican Representative Steve King, appearing on MSNBC responding to a question from writer Charlie Pierce, bemusing the advent of a growing older white male controlled party, responded with the answer, “I’d ask you to go back through history and figure out, where are these contributions that have been made by these other categories of people that you’re talking about? Where did any other subgroups of people contribute more to civilization?”
This is the Republican position in a nutshell. No concept of history or value of non-whites. Trump is making a calculated gamble that America is still full of enough old and young white bigots to make his run successful. If fair people vote, we really can Make America Great, Again!
Vote 2016!
