From the day Donald Trump confessed he was guilty of sexual assault, the press decided email conversations between Hillary Clinton, her daughter Chelsea, and her campaign chair[John Podesta] were more critical; Ever since, the American people have been weighed down with GOP elephant dung. Even today, the former President does not proclaim his innocence; he attacks the investigators. Repeatedly he has called current New York State Attorney General Letitia James a racist and refers to the January Select Committee as the ‘unselect-committee.’ The press needs to raise their batons, lead, and stop following the GOP parade with a bucket.
In 2016 Mr. Trump agreed to settle three fraud lawsuits connected to his bogus Trump University. That 25 million dollar settlement was initiated by the then New York State AG Eric Schneiderman and approved in 2017. Trump’s answer was to call Schneiderman a “lightweight” trying to “extort” him. Bob Guillo discovered the so-called University was not licensed after paying a 35,000 dollar entrance fee to the ‘Gold Elite’ program, “I knew at that point that all these people were phonies, and they were just scamming us,”Guillo said. Again, Trump’s tactic was not to dispute the evidence but to threaten counter lawsuits, tying up plaintiffs’ money and time for years to avoid acknowledging guilt.
In 2019 AG James released details of a 2 million dollar settlement against Trump Foundation Charities for scamming groups such as the Army Emergency Relief, the Children’s Aid Society, Citymeals-on-Wheels, Give an Hour, Martha’s Table, the United Negro College Fund, the United Way of National Capital Area, and the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum. Mr. Trump’s charitable offenses were so egregious that the foundation was shuttered, and his children were ordered to undergo training on the legalities of running a charity. Letitia James is currently investigating Donald Trump for tax and real estate fraud. Of course, Mr. Trump does not address the investigation but the investigator. In an Easter Tweet, Trump wrote to James, “Happy Easter to failed gubernatorial candidate and racist Attorney General Letitia James,”Trump said. “May she remain healthy despite the fact that she will continue to drive business out of New York while at the same time keeping crime, death, and destruction in New York!”
In recent weeks we have direct evidence the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas worked to overturn the 2020 presidential election—illegally. Text messages exchanged between White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, Republican Senator Mike Lee, and Representative Chip Roy may prove to be part of a conspiracy to defraud the American people by subverting democracy. Unfortunately, too many Democrats are marching in the parade of anti-progressivism for all the wrong reasons, citing global inflation and gas prices. The Democrat Party, Liberals, Progressives, or whatever narrative the Democratic Party allows the GOP to label them, it is time to forego waiting on fairness from the press, pick up the baton and high step.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott purposefully slowed down truck shipments of goods across the southern border to worsen inflation, probably violating the Constitution. Republicans voted against the American Rescue Plan to fight the economic effects of Covid-19, and just last week, 63 Republicans voted against a resolution supporting NATO. The Republican party has been reduced to balancing balls on their noses and throwing knives at easy targets; blacks, Hispanics, women, immigrants, Jews, and the LGBT+ community. Teachers, scientists, and historians are being portrayed as enemies of the people. The real enemy is within; we just have to wipe the greasepaint from our eyes and admit the GOP is ushering in fascism.
