Opinion: Why the Pro-Life Party Thinks Death is the Only Answer

Let me start by saying no one—for or against—is in favor of abortion. Subjecting a woman and her partner to outside scrutiny from what is the most anguished-filled decision of their lives, is no business of any of ours to decide for any woman. One of the few tenets left of an increasingly descending Republican ideology is their stance against abortion. If you believe in the dividing wall of pro-life or pro-choice, I will have a great fall to the pro-choice left—secure that my crown would still be intact. Whether you believe in divine providence, science, or both, you were not there at the time of conception, so why does anyone else feel they have a right to decide the outcome. Simply put; mind your business.

I hesitate to talk about the pro-life moral position of Republicans because for them life becomes a political struggle once babies are no longer a fetus, their reverence for life seems to end at birth. Oh, pro-lifers love to declare that life begins at conception but rail against Medicare and Medicaid (that mostly benefits children and the elderly) as a handout, try hard to strip away the financial support for food supplement programs such as SNAP and heaven forbid we have a livable wage in America. If all else fails shoot the abortion doctor, kill their nurses and blow up or kill your opponents. Yesterday another cliched [three-named] would-be assassin threatened to blow up two and one half city blocks of downtown Washington, DC real estate, civilians be damned. Fortunately, it appears it was more fraud than fact but the North Carolinian drove hundreds of miles to make it known he would kill, by purpose or by proxy, hundreds to achieve his political aims.

Again, for a party that shouts from atop a shaky moral pedestal that all life is precious, it appears that life is only precious while it is in the womb of a woman. Republican Rep. Mo Brooks of Alabama while saying the threat of bombing the Capitol was wrong, sympathized with the three-named assassin’s grievances,  “Although this terrorist’s motivation is not yet publicly known, and generally speaking, I understand citizenry anger directed at dictatorial Socialism and its threat to liberty, freedom and the very fabric of American society,”Brooks tweeted. “The way to stop Socialism’s march is for patriotic Americans to fight back in the 2022 and 2024 election (sic),” he finished.

The Republican party’s moral gyroscope is so unbalanced that even the police’s thin blue line has been reduced to a thread. Rep. Brooks in the prelude to the January 6 insurrection, called for the teeming mob to take names and kick ass. One of those names was Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick, who died a day after being pepper-sprayed by un-American rioters of what was later determined to be natural causes. Four other officers on the scene both from the Metro and Capitol police forces testified of their harrowing ordeal, only to be laughed at and ridiculed by the right-wing. Were their lives less precious than political considerations?

So the next time a pro-lifer asks if life begins at conception, pro-lifers should be reminded life does not end at birth?
