Blue States, Red States, oh yeah, Black States?

For all the naysayers, and denier(s) who think that Black Lives Matter is an abominable allegory, I point you to the states of Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Georgia. I have a good friend who lives in Detroit, which is in Wayne County. The board of canvassers which certifies the election results in the county originally deadlocked along party lines 2-2 last night. Holding up the official election results until November 23rd. After loud and vociferous protest by the community rejecting its disenfranchisement, the Republican members of the board of canvassers recanted their vote; although, Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson is still metaphorically being asked to count jellybeans for her constituents.

Coincidentally, the state I live in currently, Pennsylvania, was set upon yesterday by the Rudy Giuliani traveling circus, clogging our court system with baseless allegations of conspiracies, and bogey-men. Georgia, which went blue, will be completing a recount tomorrow mainly because of the heavy turnout in the state's black counties… Conspiracy theories, Mickey Mouse, and VWB (voting while black) were not Mr. Trump’s problems, Trump is his biggest problem.

The fact that state officials still believe that in America they can publicly and proudly disenfranchise black voters is beyond appalling. Black and Brown people should not have to stand in lines, risk disease, and for their effort have to later take to the streets to demand the democracy that belongs to us. Welcome to my world, I live in a Black State. As much as I try to follow the dream, there are no red states or blue states just the United States, I am always reminded that there is still a black state of America. Phrases like East Coast elites and Flyover country, minimize, postal worker, builder, nurse, cashier, bricklayer, and clerk. Yes America, there is a black working-class voter.

Black voters have served the Democratic party well, Joe Biden recognized this fact when he said during his acceptance speech, “And especially for those moments when this campaign was at its lowest — the African American community stood up again for me. They always have my back, and I’ll have yours.”

That is a far cry from the sex slave that President Trump thinks America has become. Battered and demeaned but there to please when he loosens the cuffs. America has spent four years living a Lifetime tv melodrama. Donald Trump holding a pillow over our faces while he professes his love. With his Covid inaction, rumors of war with Iran, and a precipitous troop withdrawal without the input of the incoming president, Trump is telling us if he cannot have us he would rather kill us.

Fortunately, Joe Biden crashed through the window like a raider, sans leather jacket, fedora, and whip, but running nonetheless, and with the help of voters in the midterms will save our Ark. Now that I have calmed myself with  a stroll down movie fandom lane, I hope we remember the words of former President Barack Obama:

“Change will not come if we wait for some other person, or if we wait for some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.”
Barack Obama

You Voted for Change.
