The Republican Party is falsely worshiping at the Yeezy clad feet of new ecclesiastic fundamentalism, all hail Kanye West. Mr. West is the subject of daily jokes and has become a virtual walking meme on every social media platform in the world. The GOP has launched an insulting and racist campaign to get Kanye’s name on presidential ballots. Let us be honest, they feel that young and unsophisticated black folk, read that stupid, [in white GOP eyes] will vote for any black person. The goal is to peel away a few hundred thousand votes from Joe Biden. Although reporters have uncovered evidence of this scam, they mistakenly attribute this strategy to late-night skull sessions. I think GOP operatives used a simpler paradigm; they repeated the President’s words to themselves, ‘they are all thugs, and ‘S-O-Bs,’ and live in sh*tholes’ so ‘what have you got to lose,’ so let them eat Kanye-cake.

The saddest part is the exploitation of a brilliant performer, husband, and father, Kanye West.  His family and wife have admitted publicly he is in serious mental distress.  Those so-called young unsophisticated, including my granddaughters, grandsons, nieces, nephews, and young voting-age cousins have rolled their eyes and clinched their fist as if to say, we see you GOP. Young black men and women are dying and humiliated at the hands of police far too often. Now adding insult to that injury, they insult the intelligence of an honest and hardworking youthful black population. These sorts of micro-aggressions are part of the everyday lives of  People Of Color, especially those in poorer circumstances.

I am fortunate enough to live a nice life through some hard work, education, and perseverance but it was not always that way. When I was a younger man, I lived in some of the poorer pre-gentrification neighborhoods of D.C.  I was in my twenties in the days of the 30-minute pizza delivery guarantee. Unlike in other areas, the companies thought it too dangerous to let their drivers bring your pizza to the door. They would allow you to meet them curbside with their engines running. Funny, the area was too dangerous to deliver my pizza but not too dangerous to take my money.

Now we have a group bent on the covert suppression of black voters

A Trump campaign lawyer, Lane Ruhland, has become the new Roger Stone. She was caught rushing past cameras, clutching a fist full of paperwork to place Kanye’s name on the Wisconsin ballot. Of course, Trump’s representatives are denying any knowledge of her actions, and Tom Cruise may ignite the audio CD at any second. Ms. Ruhland, I suggest you look out for speeding buses. The official communique from the White House was, "There’s no conflict to waive, but we have no knowledge of anything Kanye West is doing or who is doing it for him,” Trump campaign spokesman Tim Murtaugh said in a statement.

The cynical attempts at victory with “any means necessary” by the White House are getting more desperate and Kanye is a convenient foil. A few weeks ago, Mr. West disparaged the heroics of Harriet Tubman and expressed his anti-abortion stance in a tear-filled rant, part hysterics, part a plea for help. Coincidentally, Mr. Trump has rebuffed the efforts to put a likeness of Ms. Tubman on the twenty-dollar bill and yesterday essentially accused Democrats and Joe Biden of being God-less. If he thinks through sympathy or a good dance beat, blacks will vote for Kanye instead of Biden thus giving him [Trump] another four years, then I have a pair of cheap Yeezys on eBay to sell you.

Vote in 2020 for Change.
