Making Mud Pies

Sort of lost in the President’s latest machinations, and wall bouncing, was the fact that Hillary Clinton was once again cleared of any charges of criminality on the issue of her infamous emails.  To put this matter to rest—finally, I wish the State Department and the FBI would issue a joint press release that reads: Digging up dirt implies there is something of substance to mine, making up dirt is sifting through your imagination.  To that I would say Mr. President stop shaking the sifting pan, ‘ain’t no gold, in ‘dem ‘der hills.’

As happens with any large bureaucracy, like the State Department, mistakes can, are and will be made. The conclusion by the State Department’s Diplomatic Security, after 3 years of politically incessant and politically paranoid searching, was that “Instances of classified information being deliberately transmitted via unclassified email were the rare exception and resulted in adjudicated security violations. There was no persuasive evidence of systemic, deliberate mishandling of classified information.”

On to the new…

The press is now spending valuable airtime hoping to widen the gaping mouths of viewers by trying to get the American public to bite at the Hunter Biden apple, and by extension Joe Biden.  The latest is the dust-up between Tulsi Gabbard and the former Secretary of State.  I can understand Mrs. Clinton’s irritation, after all, whether her critics want to admit it or not, the 79 thousand-plus total votes that stopped her rise to the Presidency was directly affected by Russia’s interference in 2016. Her opposition to Tulsi Gabbard is speculation, at this point, but it has the same tinge of informed speculation that we ignored in the Trump campaign.

We know Ms. Gabbard has shown an affinity to the Assad regime in Syria, the same area once controlled by the Kurds, that Mr. Trump has turned over to Vladimir Putin with Bashar al-Assad as his proxy.

Ms. Gabbard’s tactics are becoming her repeated defense, attacking the messenger. When she pointed out that Democratic rival Kamala Harris was accused of hiding exculpatory evidence, without verification, of a death row inmate, Harris’ retort was to ask her to explain her defense of Assad’s atrocities. Gabbard said it was “unfortunate and a disservice to voters in this country that she resorts to cheap smears rather than actually addressing her record…” One could look at Gabbard’s charge as a cheap smear, saying the worst thing a prosecutor did was to prosecute.  Just recently Hillary Clinton, having experienced liberal voter losses to Jill Stein (who had her own Russia connections) in 2016 and obviously burned by her election experience, expressed skepticism and issued a warning to the American people.

Ms. Gabbard resorted to her usual answer to critics.  When her widely discussed and drastic past anti-gay conversion methods are broached or her Assad controversy or now Hillary Clinton’s critique of her, she never explains she tries to minimize the critic.  Kamala is smearing her, she says.  She dismisses her past statements on gay rights with the words, But I also grew up in a socially conservative household, where I was raised to believe that marriage should only be between a man and a woman. For a period of my life I didn’t see the contradiction in those beliefs. I  sincerely accept her ‘evolution’, but you cannot hold the past mistakes of others in perpetuity when you want yours forgiven. By the way, making mud pies with Tucker Carlson will not help.

Vote in 2020 for Change.
