A.G. Barr taught a 6-hour long masters’ course in obfuscation Wednesday. At one point he was asked about his previous testimony before the House Oversight Committee; in reference to a question asked by rep. Charlie Crist, “Reports have emerged recently … that members of the special counsel’s team are frustrated at some level with the limited information included in your March 24th (memo). ... Do you know what they are referencing with that?” “No, I don’t.” was Barr’s answer. A few days later in a Senate Appropriations Committee meeting, he claimed complete ignorance of any “concerns” expressed about his summary blurb of Mueller’s findings. Barr was asked by Chris Van Hollen on April 10th, “did Bob Mueller support your conclusion? Barr answered, “I don't know whether Bob Mueller supported my conclusion.”Obviously, the public release of Mueller’s letter April 30th has had a sobering effect. Barr has run up a huge tab, sipping from a glass of lies on the rocks and the bill is due to the American people. We need to collect.
Lying is endemic in the Trump administration. The job application for employment by Mr. Trump must require a Nixon like clause for dirty-dealing, accepting that your loyalty will not be returned and have the ability to avoid the bus wheels when it rolls back down the hill. I am concerned about the passivity of the American people. Kids died on the campus of Kent State, in Ohio, for a cause. My friends and I danced and celebrated the resignation of Richard Nixon the day he left the White House. Then, much like now, hand-wringing and wailing from the media sent up flares of concern wondering if the Constitution would crumble. I was eighteen years old when Richard Nixon waved his peace sign of goodbye to the political world, and despite the fears of what would happen next, obviously, the United States survived. Impeachment should not be feared but welcomed as an antidote for the country’s sickness.
The countless number of times I have heard the two-word phrase constitutional crisis over the past six months has outdistanced the Cardi B verbal meme, okurrr. Barr, weeks ago, joined the ranks of Trump rally revelers, with mindless cheerleading, and feeble-minded responses, punctuated with the parroting of lies. Senator Kamala Harris did everything to restrain herself when Barr would feign ignorance in defense of her questions and spin a web of deception, I can imagine she wanted to repeat Steve Martin’s line to John Candy in the movie, Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, “…here’s a good idea, have a point; it makes it so much more interesting for the listener.”
Mr. Barr was scheduled to follow up his performance in front of the Republican-led Senate Committee with an appearance before honest brokers in the House Thursday morning, but his cowardice overcame his self-delusional valor. Barr’s refusal to appear was based on his objection to being questioned by the staff counsel for the House. My conclusion would be to assume that nothing is scarier to a dishonest lawyer than an honest one. Having staff-congressional-counsel inquire into a witness’s testimony is not unprecedented nor should it be scary to an honorable man.
The next steps are negotiations, subpoenas, and the threat of arrest. Meanwhile, Barr is single-minded in carrying out the President’s horrific agenda of creating human suffering. The Department of Justice filed suit to eliminate the Affordable Care Act and Trump’s world of corruption continues to flourish under the watchful eyes of Republican lackeys.
