Well, my long awaited redacted, expurgated, William Barr whitewashed version of the Mueller report hit my desk at 12: 30 pm yesterday afternoon. I was fortunate enough to obtain a searchable version, and was finished reading [Read the Mueller Report: Searchable Document and Index BY THE NEW YORK TIMES APRIL 18, 2019]by 1:30 am this morning, and yes, I am somewhat of a political masochist. First, the minor points that we all knew, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders is an admitted inveterate liar. Donald Trump is an inveterate liar. The members of the White House staff, the press are trying to turn into heroes, were really enablers to an inveterate liar; and A.G. Barr has disgraced his J.D. from George Washington University, and is now the chief mouthpiece for an inveterate liar. Well now that the obvious has been outlined let us move forward.
The relevant point you need to understand about the Mueller report is found in Volume 1, page 173, “ In sum, the investigation established multiple links between Trump Campaign officials and individuals tied to the Russian government. Those links included Russian offers of assistance to the Campaign. In some instances, the Campaign was receptive to the offer, while in other instances the Campaign officials shied away.” Barr ignored this in his actions as a lawyer for the President, not the United States; again, Mueller concluded that “In some instances, the Campaign was receptive to the offer…” Barr chose to summarize this passage with the words “…but did not find that the Trump campaign or other Americans colluded in those efforts.”
I am no scholar but being receptive to a plan to defraud the American system of free elections, sounds like acceptance to an overture of conspiracy. Barr spoke about a “frustrated: and “angry” President yesterday as if that was an excuse to commit a crime. So, every broke and angry bank robber should be excused? William Barr in effect told America and the world the United States system of jurisprudence is as worthless and as unfair as the note pad carried by Sarah Sanders.
The basis of allowing public officials to lie, scheme and cheat the public and ultimately obstruct the investigation into same, is that since no underlying crime has been proved, repeatedly lying to hide the discovery of the needed evidence is not a crime either.
The Democrats were elected to lead and stop the obvious subversion of the rule of law by President Trump. It is not their job to make a political calculation or predict an outcome. I have resisted calls for impeachment because as a private citizen I have that luxury. Now is the time for the House to roar, it should file immediately to impeach the President of the United States, Donald J. Trump. I know, I know, many may be saying slow your roll, the Republicans impeached Bill Clinton and look what happened. Well, what did happen; the Republicans retained the House the Senate and won the White House in 2000, the so-called backlash was short-lived. A big part of the job of the House is oversight.
If a cop catches an alleged thief leaving the bank empty-handed, because he dropped the bag of money, his or her job is to arrest not adjudicate. Democrats make the arrest; it is up to the Senate to adjudicate. The Constitution was written with a purpose, time to make it live again.
