The press has painted the ongoing partial government shutdown as Nancy and Chuck versus Donald, that is all wrong. After a dramatic walkout by the President, staged for public consumption, and a healthy and hearty “no” way from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, government employees are looking for children to babysit, opening their garages for impromptu sales and turning their hobbies into cash. None of the previously mentioned ideas are viable or will pay mortgages or car notes but nonetheless were suggested in an official memo by the U. S. Coast Guard to its furloughed employees. Meanwhile peeking over the transom pulling his head back into his shell when spotted is the real adversary and answer for Donald Trump, Mitch McConnell.
Anytime over the past two-year period, prior to January 3, 2019, the House could have appropriated Wall funding and according to Mitch McConnell passage from the Senate would have been a formality. Certainly, as he says, a spending bill without Wall appropriations is a non-starter. So, despite the Mexican President keeping his promise not to pay the fee for Donald Trump’s vanity project, Trump is leaking brain oil looking for an off-ramp. The absence of Mitch McConnell over the past few weeks is not an accident. If the Senate Leader were to lead the rest of the diapsids into the light and they peek their heads out from within their shells he would have to admit the President is foolish and his administration borders on illegality. That admission would certainly sink his re-election hopes with Trump’s Kentucky base. The truth would turn him into Jeff Flake, alone and throwing around empty threats among the growing insanity of his party.
Donald Trump needs Mitch McConnell to authorize a vote in the Senate on the increasing number of bills coming from the Pelosi led House to fully open government. This is the speech Trump wants to make, ‘Mushy Mitch’ let us down. He did not corral his members and they voted to override my quest to build a big beautiful wall, and opened America, to the dangerous liberals of Washington, D.C., led by Democratic socialist to kill us all.’ ‘It is not my fault’ I tried but Mushy Mitch failed you. I am a winner, it is them who let you down. Thank you and God bless Rush, Ann and Fox, oh yeah, you too America.’
A national emergency is not the answer, trade deals with Mexico are not the answer and the military is not the answer. Trump’s way out is to claim his independence from the Republican establishment[McConnell] veto the vote from the House and Senate and pray they override his veto. The foil becomes McConnell and Trump goes to his base the bloodied hero of the conservative masses. His conservative media friends lose their reason to complain, Fox News can have him on every morning making campaign speeches, and the immigrants remain the enemy of the people along with the conspiratorial press.
Of course, all this is a rambling theory with no basis of fact, maybe that qualifies me for a job in the White House.
