Elizabeth, No Need to Respond

Today Senator Elizabeth Warren responded to Donald Trump’s Pocahontas taunt by pacifying his ego.  Repeatedly on the campaign trail and his self-serving rallies Donald Trump insulted native Americans with his cartoonish characterization of Pocahontas. If you remember he went so far as to do his Pocahontas spiel in front of Native World War II heroes in the White House.   Despite it all, he got the Senator to air a slickly produced commercial for DNA companies, in the guise of a fact producing public announcement, that purports to help the purchasers identify their heritage.  Trump on many occasions told Warren that if she took a DNA test and proved her Native American heritage he would donate one million dollars to the charity of her choice.  I am sure many applauded Senator Warren for calling Mr. Trump’s bluff, but I was disappointed.   Of course, President Trump denied he ever made the offer and is at this very moment, thinking of ways to flip his coin of lies and have it come up heads.

Former President Obama allowed himself to be manipulated into producing a birth certificate for the pleasure of Trump’s foolhardy and racist.  After years of denouncing Trump’s idiocy about his place of birth and numerous confirmations from the Hawaiian department of births and deaths, Obama finally produced his official long form birth certificate to the expected GOP response, it is a fake, it has been tampered with, even conspiracies like, look at the fonts, it cannot be real.

Democrats need to stop playing the game of, seek and go find the hidden nuts.

Pundits are already accusing Warren of using her DNA results as an entree into the 2020 presidential race.  Democrats keep playing on Trump’s field, with Trump’s ball and Trump’s referees.  You cannot expect a contest outlined by a cheater and liar to yield fairly judged results.  The late Senator John McCain was roundly and widely applauded for his handling of a woman who accused Barack Obama of being, “he’s uh, uh… he’s an Arab.”  The woman used the obvious misnomer as an insult as if Arabs are some subculture beneath dignity.  As an African American I will admit it took some gumption on the part of Senator McCain to publicly disagree and side with a black man, given the climate, but listen carefully to what McCain says in response,

The correct response should have been, so what, even if he is of Arabic descent he is an American citizen with the right to be President. But McCain shook his head disapprovingly and said,” no ma’am, no ma’am he’s a decent family man citizen…” So, does that mean an Arab is an indecent family man?  Mr. Trump has used the same tactics on his personal trail of tearful insults.  He has made fun of Native Americans to their faces and people of color not only in America and its territories but all over the world. Trump’s blatant disparagement of London Mayor Sadiq Khan, the wife of slain soldier Sergeant La David Johnson, all of Africa, Haiti and El Salvador, and the dismissal of San Juan Puerto Rico Mayor, Carmen Yulín Cruz.  In accordance with recent speeches given by Democrats, we can either kick them, fight back or go high. I am not sure which is most effective but playing Trump’s game makes us all pawns.

Vote in ’18 for Change.
