There is something we have missed in the Brett Kavanaugh v. Dr. Christine Blasey Ford fight. Donald Trump gave us a sneak peek at the Department of Justice he has always wanted. We got a concrete look at how the President given unbridled control over an FBI investigation would brazenly skew the process. Let us play a little show and tell, the White House allegedly instructed the FBI to ignore the protagonist and antagonist in this saga of alcohol, sex, and lying. Nine people were interviewed by the FBI, despite nearly forty former Yalies and Georgetown prep kids, leaping from their seats with beer and ink-stained hands raised to give an account of what they saw and remember.
In a suite in Trump Tower on November 9, 2016, the President’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, his Campaign Manager, Paul Manafort and son, Don Jr., along with five others including a Russian lawyer, Natalia Veselnitskaya, representing Vladimir Putin, possibly conspired to rig the 2016 United States Presidential election. According to former FBI Director James Comey, he was asked to supersede his allegiance to the United States and replace it with loyalty and allegiance to Donald Trump. Comey decided not to play ball and was tossed from the game. So, whenever special prosecutor Robert Mueller releases his report, that most assuredly will demand a call for a further criminal inquiry by Congress, the Court and the DOJ; I hope the country remembers this trial run of Kavanaugh’s suspected drunken exploits and Trump’s maneuvering to control the outcome of an investigation.
We have the Republican caucus, led by an increasingly hysterical Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), and Mitch McConnell plowing through a process that is so crooked, Lombard Street in San Francisco is jealous. Graham, now that his moral compass, Senator John McCain has left him, seemingly has been swayed by the ‘kook’ into behavior he once lamented. He is now following the North Star of his newest chosen one, Donald Trump. Lindsey, who appears to be ready to crawl over broken glass to take Jeff Sessions’ job, has been screechy, petulant, hysterical and emotional, all the things Republicans attribute to women. The Senate is set to vote on a cloture motion today on the confirmation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh for appointment to the Supreme Court. They have set aside Dr. Ford’s very credible testimony, a letter signed by over one-thousand law professors, the admonition by former Justice John Paul Stevens and even Kavanaugh’s roommates who have warned against giving him this promotion. They are hell-bent on having Kavanaugh, along with the bottled spirits of Squi, PJ, Tobin, and Timmy live out his Prep-boy dreams.
Trump got current FBI Director Christopher Wray to submit to a sham investigation that omitted witnesses, who voluntarily wrote letters, did TV interviews and made phone calls begging to speak, with no acknowledgment from the FBI. Comey was complicit in the destruction of Hillary Clinton with his last-minute email revelation but Clinton is the obsession of every Republican so that was just routine Clintonoia. I do wonder how Comey would have handled a directive by the White House to conduct a phantom investigation in this case. Remember this moment in the future investigation of Russia-Gate with Lindsey Graham as the new Attorney General. Actually, if I am allowed to paraphrase Lindsey Graham and apply it to the American People, we are all being “treated like crap!”
