A Little Randomness

I listen to defensive diatribes from Trump supporters on TV every day, but they need to make up their minds. They either have to settle on the President being a lucky moron or a brilliant strategist. When they are asked about the Trump campaign’s involvement with the Russians to fix the 2016 elections they giggle and say something like, “are you kidding”this group was so inept they could not collude with themselves. When liberals challenge them and say, well then Trump is not up to the job, they repeat an asinine statement like the one from Orin Hatch, "To be fair, he’s the best President I’ve served 'under' in terms of line (sic) of succession. If we’re talking best Presidents I’ve served alongside, that list would also include Lincoln, Reagan, and James K. Polk, who really knew how to command a room.” Besides the quote being convoluted, the gist is that Orin Hatch thinks that Donald Trump is a better President than Abraham Lincoln. Stop it! Trump could not get Lincoln’s stove-top over his hairdo.

This is what we are dealing with when you confront a Republican with any reasonable fact; mean-spirited memes, bullying, and doublespeak.  Speaker of the House Paul Ryan described Trump’s criticism of Judge Curiel, the ‘textbook definition of a racist comment.’ During the same press conference, he also said, "It's absolutely unacceptable,"but then reiterated he had more in common with Trump’s policy.  Texas Senator Ted Cruz, who invited Trump to put up his dukes over an insult directed at his wife, later subjected his wife to dinner with the President and the First Lady in March of last year. I guess Heidi Cruz is still waiting, much like Cruz’s father, the chivalry that will defend their honor. This back and forth by the Republicans and their sympathizers does confirm something, they are willing to vote and work for someone they think is a moron, ask former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.

Ball of Confusion

In 1970, the Dennis Edwards led Temptations released the hit record Ball of Confusion. The hook read, “it’s a ball of confusion, that’s what the world is today…” Never truer words were spoken. We have a President who defends our traditional enemies and has somehow managed to make an enemy of Canada. Canada has not been our enemy since, since, 1812.  You remember, historian Donald Trump reminded Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of that “fact” in a May 25 phone call that ‘you guys’[Canada] burn down the White House.’ So, the man who could not pass 12th-grade history, was not smart enough to run a competent campaign, has been called on multiple occasions, using varying adjectives, stupid by his subordinates and fans, is alternately brilliant and a fool.

I ran into this pretzel-ing last evening listening to CNN contributor Scott Jennings, attempt to debate Dr. Michael Eric Dyson. After being read a litany of Trump’s racist behavior by the host, dating back to 1973, and being confronted with a Quinnipiac poll saying that half the country thinks Trump is a racist, Jennings feigned outrage and insult.  Although he insisted on making it clear he has condemned Trump’s racist statements, he does not believe Trump is a racist…I know, walk like a, talk like a…quack, quack
