While Trump is Fooling You...

For the second time in four-months, Donald Trump has threatened to toss out 241 years of jurisprudence in the United States of America. “Take the guns first, go through due process second,” Trump told a conclave of Congressional Democrats and Republicans in a televised meeting, February 28, 2018. While Trump is Fooling You, conservatives were pulling the hairs out of their flipped wigs.  Meanwhile, Trump met with the leadership of the NRA a day later, in secret, then tweeted just past 7 pm, “Good (Great) meeting in the Oval Office tonight with the NRA!”7:04 PM - Mar 1, 2018.

Of course, while the news media chased their twitter tail, nothing happened on guns and Trump knew so little about the law, his pronouncement was just another ridiculous pique of hyperbolic nonsense. This weekend, again the President, in the midst of another American violation of human rights, suggested we deport asylum seekers and border crossers without due process, in some cases permanently separating them from their children.  Morning news talkers will spend some time on another of the fanciful dreams of a would-be dictator and bring on pro and con paid talkers to debate nothing. WTFY, the military has brought in some 40,000 additional beds for the expected internment of migrant families. Trump will continue to yell, Democrats, Obama, Pelosi, and Schumer to try and shed responsibility.

WTFY, at some point someone, somewhere in the hallowed halls of Congress has to make a speech, like the one delivered by Representative Barbara Jordan (D-Texas) who said in part…“my faith in the Constitution is whole, it is complete—it is total; and I am not going to sit here and be an idle spectator to the diminution, the subversion, the destruction of the Constitution.” Following that speech, the United States House of Representatives voted affirmatively to impeach Richard Milhous Nixon.

From the beginning of the current administration, Donald Trump has called upon the scurrilous antics of thugs, criminals, and liars to set the pattern for his behavior. Even his insistence that his people’s use of the word “period” to emphatically affirm a lie, is telling.  “This is the largest audience to ever witness an inauguration, period!” said Sean Spicer, former WH Press Secretary. Presidential adviser Steven Miller who has gone on histrionic rants, whenever he is in front of a TV camera, seems to be contradicting the President who says he is powerless to the Democrats. Miller once declared “that the powers of the president to protect our country are very substantial and will not be questioned.”. Apparently, this unquestioned power is subject to the President’s whims or fears of backlash. He [Miller] is now saying about the man with unquestioned power. “No nation can have the policy that whole classes of people are immune from immigration law or enforcement,…“It was a simple decision by the administration to have a zero tolerance policy for illegal entry, period…”

WTFY, with meandering, phony policy, denials of phony policy, and just plain lying, it did not work for Nixon, and with American pressure, it will not work for Trump. After a little over a year of investigation Nixon said, “I believe the time has come to bring that investigation and the other investigations of this matter to an end. One year of Watergate is enough." Vice-President Mike Pence made that same assertion a few weeks ago, relating Robert Mueller to the Watergate investigation.  Mr. Trump, maybe you and Mr. Pence should steal one more quote from Richard Nixon, it starts,  “Therefore, I shall resign the Presidency…”
