Take your Bow Ms. Manigault-Newman…

The coincidence is not lost on me that a black woman either quit or as most believe was relieved of her duties the day after 98 percent of Black female Alabamians put the first Democrat into statewide office in twenty-five years. The irony is also not missed that a black woman with the title of Outreach Liaison for the White House, with a special charge to African Americans, Omarosa Manigault-Newman is leaving the White House having failed to persuade in two southern states, Virginia and Alabama, Black women to vote for a Republican and the furtherance of the Trump agenda.

Having no sense of irony or coincidence, Donald Trump, whom Ms. Manigault-Newman once said, “More importantly, every critic, every detractor will have to bow down to President Trump,” fired a woman who looked like his biggest opposition.  I want this moment to be an object lesson to the Democratic Party and its stubborn refusal to admit that Black women are the current backbone of the caucus. Exit polls showed that somewhere between 94 and 98 percent of Black female voters cast a ballot for Doug Jones in Alabama last night. This dogged insistence that Democrats chase, the white working class ‘Mitch from Gulchditch,’ is fruitless and I was never more convinced of that than watching the interviews of white Moore supporters over the past 6 weeks.  In the buildup to the Alabama Senatorial race, every excuse and kitchen sink was thrown, including biblical comparisons to Mary and Joseph, to the unsuitable lack of purity of Alabama women past their teens.  All to find some lasting excuse for the alleged pedophilia of failed candidate Roy Moore.

Cell Phone company logic…

The Democratic Party must stop treating its most loyal customers like longtime cell carrier dupes.  Nothing is more galling than listening to sales being offered to new customers, like free phones, multiple line deals and almost pleading appeals to attract people away from their old service providers. Meanwhile, loyal customers who have paid their bills faithfully are discarded, with no such offers, for the lure of the new guy who may stiff them on the first billing period.   Democrats are obsessed with the idea of constructing new cells towers in places that only want landlines.  Time after time in the post-game coverage of the Alabama election, I listen to pundit after pundit ask, how do Democrats reach those 65 percent of white woman who voted for more of Moore? I agree that is a large chunk of the electorate, and ripe for the right message; but the Democratic message is not what they want, racism and misogyny are not on the list of liberal options.  Senator Cory Gardner of the NRSC [ National Republican Senatorial Committee] played phone tag with ‘Mitch of Gulchditch,’ when he issued a statement saying, “I hope Senator-elect Doug Jones will do the right thing and truly represent Alabama by choosing to vote with the Senate Republican Majority.”

With that statement, the Republicans have staked out their position to Black voters, suppression and disrespect.  Gardner is saying to Jones, ignore your base come with us. Time and his Senate voting record will tell the tale of Doug Jones -- I hope he does not get his signals crossed.

Vote in 18’ for Continued Change
