Senator Bob Corker may have finally out nicknamed Donald Trump. Corker who labeled the President with either instability, incompetence or both, in reality, may have found the proper moniker for two men, former presidential adviser Steve Bannon and President Donald Trump. Which one wears which adjective most appropriately, is up for grabs. Speaking of grabbing, something the President knows well, Mr. Trump grabbed hold of the golden key to release and give Bannon the out he has sought for months.
Unlike others, who believe Bannon somehow lost his media savvy and gave an on the record interview that he felt was in confidence, I think was really a calculated resignation letter; devised to make him appear forced out as opposed to quitting outright. Bannon has been accused of many things but I have never heard anyone call him stupid. The gathering clouds of isolation, often attributed to the President, was starting to cordon off Bannon like silent thunder. In Bannon’s increasingly lonely former office, no longer having Michael Flynn and his cohorts to feed his paranoia and his authority being usurped by Jared Kushner and establishment generals, Bannon needed a way out.

The perfect White Nationalist storm came along last weekend taking the life of a lovely young woman [Heather Heyer] and two brave state policemen [ The pilot of the Bell 407 helicopter, Lt. H. Jay Cullen, 48, of Midlothian, and Trooper-Pilot Berke M.M. Bates, 40, of Quinton], but providing the tip of the racist spear Bannon needed to force a confrontation. He no longer had to wait for failed tax reform or a failed infrastructure bill he had his moment and he took it. Behind the wheel of a Dodge Challenger was the face and mind of Steve’s salvation; a nameless acolyte willing to literally drive into infamy.
He got everything he wanted, a scapegoat in the body of a young white woman who was a ‘traitor’ to “fine” people and two uniformed representatives of his imagined deep state. Too many hate-filled words conjured up a slack jawed alleged murderer willing to drive hundreds of miles to destroy dreams and lives and his willing dupe[Trump] was queued up and ready to hold a press conference excusing hatred with incoherent babble. How could I, Bannon surely believed, be blamed for getting out of this morass? He left with his hood held high.
Bannon tried to camouflage the new WH normal with a weak condemnation along with proving his racist bona fides by labeling his followers with the term a “collection of clowns” and at the same time pushing the President to go before the world and say, a racist, a killer, and batterers are really “fine people.” Saturday’s dawn will either open a new chapter of open bigotry or the moles will retreat to their holes awaiting the next edition of Breitbart News for orders. Remember Bannon left the WH peering through imagined cut-out eye holes leading his White Supremacist followers who are dreaming of the “south rising again.”
We are foolishly comparing true Americana, Presidents, Thomas Jefferson, and George Washington to Robert E. Lee (don’t most deranged killers go by three names) and President of the Confederate States, Jefferson Davis.
There is a protest scheduled in my town tomorrow and heaven help me. I am a black man who is worried in 2017. Do I need to fear public lynchings once more, lit by Tiki torches, held hostage by an AR-15 and pulverized by a car?
