Where is Anthony Weiner?

The fact that [Anthony] Weiner was literally trying to show off, publicly, at every flash of his smartphone, was tragic and demeaning to the Democratic Party.  In the midst of a current presidency gone wrong, his loud and liberal voice bellowing in the cloak rooms and on the floor of Congress would be a much-needed liberal shot in the millennial arm that is sorely missed by Democrats.  After many chances and attempts at forgiveness by his base, Mr. Weiner is unfortunately out of chances. But who is next?

For a while Alan Grayson (D-Fla.), was ready and sacrificially willing to take up the cudgel but liberal voices succumb to the painting of his agenda by Conservatives as wacky.  Grayson is willing to attack far right ring blog sites and news groups using their own tactics and not back down http://rightwingnews.com/democrats/wacky-alan-grayson-d-fl-wants-to-jail-critic-for-5-years/.  The indecent dissent, employed regularly by the conservative media, may be a necessary evil, for patriotic liberals, in the face of the current abandonment of America’s principles by Republicans.  I ask again, who is next?

Is America ready for a second black President in NJ Senator Corey Booker?  Booker has been painted as a compromiser (as if that is a bad thing). At one point in our esteemed political institutions compromise was a virtue. It is now seen as appeasing the enemy.  http://www.nj.com/politics/index.ssf/2017/03/njs_booker_ill_work_with_republicans_to_improve_ob.html.  Prominently mentioned has been Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown, who runs the risk of alienating the so-called ‘white working class’ because of his staunch anti-voter suppression stance http://www.cleveland.com/open/index.ssf/2014/09/sen_sherrod_brown_accuses_repu.html.  Like many issues involving race and class, Republicans have successfully painted support for the poor, the weak or the underserved as tax or freedom giveaways.  We have gone through the stable of old war horses, Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton and the venerable Bernie Sanders; who ran on ‘principle’ used the Democrat Party as a disguise and after his loss returned to the Senate as an Independent http://www.politico.com/blogs/2016-dem-primary-live-updates-and-results/2016/03/bernie-sanders-independent-media-coverage-220747.  The opposition research on Mr. Sanders would have easily swayed wishy washy progressives just like the mid-term abandonment of Barack Obama in the face of the Affordable Care Act resistance in the 2010 midterms.

Where was the 2010 yelling, red card flashing and personal stories of pain, that have been displayed in recent town hall meetings?

The one value that Republicans put front and center under any horrendous circumstance is loyalty. President Trump has shown his incompetence, lack of intellect, disregard for America’s framework and a betrayal of process, but Republican hierarchy is just, “troubled.”  Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) said in a tweet last night, “ I have my subpoena pen ready” in the Trump-Russia-Flynn debacle http://www.cnn.com/2017/05/16/politics/congress-reactions-trump-michael-flynn-memo/index.html. This is the same man who was ready to savage and possibly start impeachment  hearings against Hillary Clinton on day one of her presidency http://www.newser.com/story/233145/gop-oversight-chair-well-investigate-clinton-for-years.html.

A viable Democratic percussionist ready to beat the drums of political war for the Democratic party is missing in action.  Gentlemen Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), is missing his chance and Minnesota Democratic Senator Amy Klobuchar, is a victim of senatorial decorum.  Democrats need a boorish, boisterous fighter, willing to say the wrong thing or make a wrong move to offend the right people.  Republicans won with that approach but they chose a wooden-headed puppet to advance their agenda. Who is next?
