In a letter from committee member Rep. Trey Gowdy(R-SC), he wrote his intention was to, “remain focused on discharging the mission given to us by the House of Representatives.” This was a response to questions from fellow Rep. Elijah Cummings(D-Md.) to the Benghazi hearing leaks in July of 2015 http://democrats-benghazi.house.gov/news/press-releases/gowdy-refuses-to-investigate-who-on-select-committee-leaked-inaccurate-info-to. It must be nice to make up the rules as you go, I go to work at 9 am but you know 9:30 sounds better today. Gowdy, a member of the United States House Intelligence Committee, yesterday not only decided that leaks are now more important than possible infiltration by the Russian government, he inferred the press should be prosecuted for publishing the information http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2017/03/20/republican-behind-benghazi-probe-suggests-jailing-journalists-who-publish-secrets.html.
My leg is wet and it is not raining…
Gowdy made sure to elicit from NSA Chief Mike Rogers that 20 people have access to classified information and an unspecified number from the FBI, according to Director James Comey. It is no revelation to point out that Gowdy’s intent was to misdirect the focus of the committee. He wanted to implicate former Obama appointees and holdovers for the sieve-like nature of the Trump regime. He specifically named seven people from former President Obama’s administration, without once mentioning any current or former members of Trump’s inner or outer circle as possibly committing “felonious” acts. That included the careful omission of Trump’s former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.
Speaking of my leg, the trickle down of just plain lying and deception is wetting the pants of the Republican Party.
Rep. David Trott (R-Mich.) was caught on an open mic this past Saturday calling protesters at his town hall un-American and wondered aloud how he could purposefully mischaracterize their booing of his support for the Trump budget. During the town hall, Trott tried to make the case for cuts in other parts of the budget to increase defense spending. The crowd booed lustily because programs like, Meals on Wheels, The State Department and the EPA are on the chopping block. Trott was heard positing the idea that the booing should be portrayed as “un-American” protesters booing the military https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/powerpost/wp/2017/03/21/hot-mic-catches-gop-congressmans-adviser-planning-spin-about-un-american-protesters/?utm_term=.013b0b67d6b2.
The changing of the rules now includes the President’s daughter being able to sit in on high level White House meetings. To avoid the nepotism rules, Ivanka Trump will not have a title, not draw a salary, not be vetted or have specified duties. This along with having no governing qualifications, worries me. Is she there as her Daddy’ binky; with the American people as his suckers? The seeming inexplicable efforts to make the American government circumspect will have long term effects. Not only will it damage its citizens but creates credibility issues with its allies. In 60 days Mr. Trump, has offended the Australians, Germans, Brits, Mexicans and seven Islamic dominated countries. The country led by an undisputed dictator and murderer, Russia, is enjoying rising popularity within the Republican Party faithful. Vladimir Putin’s favorability rating has risen from 15% in 2013 to 32% in February of 2017 http://www.gallup.com/poll/204191/putin-image-rises-mostly-among-republicans.aspx.
During the Red Scare of the 1950’s Joseph McCarthy had Americans suspicious of their next door neighbors, in 2008 former Rep.Michele Bachmann( R-Minn.) suggested McCarthy like hearings to expose anti-Americans in Congress http://www.politico.com/blogs/politico-now/2008/10/bachmann-calls-for-penetrating-expose-on-anti-americans-in-congress-013248 and now we have Trey Gowdy. All of these people had agendas, alcoholism, religious fervor and partisan hackery. It is time this country get down to real business and not become a reality tv show, oops maybe it is too late…
