Donald Trump uses the trick of falsely dominating and humiliating his opponents, then awaiting their capitulation.
Little Marco(Rubio), who labeled Trump a, “fraud and a con man” has come back to bend at the knee of Trump. Lyin’ Ted (Cruz), who challenged Trump to a fight over a beauty comparison between the two candidate’s wives, has now come home to daddy. The list is long and like Trump’s repetitive statements, we’ve heard it over and over and over. Donald Trump enjoys manipulating people in his tiny hands. He has bragged on many occasions about getting the President to reveal his long form birth certificate. I am sure in his dreams at night having the first Black President of the United States show his papers will be etched on his tombstone.
In June, Mark Kirk said he, “cannot and will not support” Donald Trump. This reaction was spurred by Trump’s openly bigoted comments about Judge Gonzalo Curiel’s rulings in his fraud case involving the former Trump University. Trump castigated the judge’s heritage, painting him as an unfair arbiter because he is of Mexican descent, ignoring the fact that he was born in Indiana. Kirk went on to point out, Trump’s misogyny and ridicule of the disabled was, “beyond the pale.” Kirk’s political calculation and principled stance was lauded by both sides of the political aisle for his “courage.”
Well, Senator Kirk revealed his true colors in typical Trump fashion last night by lashing out with a race baiting statement against his rival for the Illinois Senate post, Tammy Duckworth. Representative Duckworth, who was permanently injured as a helicopter pilot in Iraq, spoke eloquently about being the product of a distinguished military family history and a proud daughter of the American Revolution. In response to Ms. Duckworth, whose mother is Thai Chinese, and father white, Mr. Kirk took the opportunity to make a racist joke that was not nearly as funny as a degree from Trump University. Mr. Kirk instead of congratulating Ms. Duckworth and her family on their service to this country said, “I had forgotten that uh, that your uh, your parents came all the way from Thailand to serve George Washington.” The audience gasp and shock from the panel of moderators was audible and visible.
So, a man who just months before was praised for finally speaking out against open prejudice thought it was a good idea to follow Trump’s lead and insult a double amputee war veteran, belittle her immigrant mother and diminish the accomplishments of her forefathers. Why not just say, I like pilots who don’t crash; Mr. Kirk. I think the people of Illinois deserve better than a junior Trump. I suppose Mr. Kirk is waiting for Ms. Duckworth to lavish praise on him for his superiority. Much like Mr. Trump, Senator Kirk and his supporters, will blame political correctness, the lamestream media and an assortment of blameless fall guys for his contemptuous behavior. The amount of adolescent vitriol that has become a part of the Republican Party is disappointing. I believe in the two-party system but when one party is dominated by silly frat boys, the party is over.
