In GOP circles, President Joe Biden is the bad guy. Mr. Biden again tried to fill their Christmas stocking with a stricter immigration policy (Trump replaced sugar plums with coal the first time around) but was met with it was too late. “So you can have policies, if you have the will and you believe in the danger that unchecked immigration into your country can really – what the challenge of that is and the security of that..., said Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) speaking at the Senate Republican Leadership press conference.
Ms. Moore essentially says that if your bank were robbed last Wednesday, it would make no sense to lock the vault with the new deposits next week. Republicans are locked in this nonsensical thinking to the point where yesterday, Jim Jordan(R-OH) vowed to defund the ultimate police force: the FBI, along with any prosecutor's office that dares prosecute Mr. Trump. The dire need to close the border, which Republicans have long said is imperative, now says Mr. Biden is “too late.” When is it too late to fix a problem you say is a daily affront to national security? Living in their whirling dervish of religiosity, a party that has no platform or conviction (except for their leader) must be like living in John Malkovich's head. I am sure they would like to think they are seeing the world through their constituents' eyes, but their thirst for cruelty blinds them.
It must be hard living in the heads of a Republican these days. First, you must believe that every Democrat is either evil or feeble while at the same time reconciling their inscrutable nature and clever maneuvering. Barack Obama was alternately called lazy, stupid, and evil genius. Why does he play so much golf the GOP would spend days on radio and TV lamenting? He thinks like an anti-colonialist, said Newt Gingrich. “What if [Obama] is so outside our comprehension that only if you understand Kenyan, anti-colonial behavior, can you begin to piece together [his actions]?” Gingrich asks. Not satisfied with alluding to Mr. Obama’s legitimacy as a citizen, he, of course, attacked his intelligence, “This is a person who is fundamentally out of touch with how the world works, who happened to have played a wonderful con, as a result of which he is now president,”Gingrich went on to say.
At the same time, Obama was called a master planner who finagled the entire U.S. and bent the institutions of government to his will. Aside from the devious tan suit, Mr. Obama was accused in 2015 of inducing a military takeover (Jade Helm) in Texas and converting soon-to-be-abandoned Walmart(s) into concentration camps. Of course, the plot was just another conspiracy theory based on racism and fear, but the then and current governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, wanted to mobilize the Texas State Guard as spies. After four years of Donald Trump as commander-in-chief, a near loss of free and fair elections ultimately resulted in the first convicted former president.
Seeing America as a place that sees freedom as my way or the highway, one has to wonder if they will ever see the road flares and stop before they crash and there are no survivors.
