The abominable treatment of Anita Hill allowed a corrupt jurist to be a member of the Supreme Court. It has come to light that in 2000 Associate Justice Sandra Day O’Connor and the intrusion of the Supreme Court took away the votes of Floridians and named a President. An ill-advised (to say the least) war in the middle east dictated 20 years of history and altered families’ futures forever. Then we had the death of thousands of Americans directly related to the mismanagement and cartoonish response of Donald Trump to a deadly virus. Two impeachments, an insurrection, and the outing of corruption in the Supreme Court later, Republicans still say—nothing to see here.
America’s amnesia may let yesterday’s Proud Boys conviction fade like the signature on my Art Monk signed football, overexposed to the sun, to our peril. There is an old cliché about sunlight being the best disinfectant, but Republicans too often use it to blind the masses. Yesterday with the seditious conspiracy conviction of Enrique Tarrio—leader of the Proud Boys, and three other group members, this was a milestone if America is willing to bear the heavy lift. Tarrio assisted in plotting a coup against the United States of America when the toy soldiers thought it was all fun and games. Let that sink in; he tried to kill two-hundred and forty-seven years of Democracy at the whim of a former President too small to accept defeat.
Anyone who missed Morgan State author and Professor/Dr. Jason Johnson’s righteous rant about the Republican Party on MSNBC Wednesday should take a moment and heed his words:

I am sure the Republicans are aghast at his words, although I heard him give this warning as far back as two years ago. They forget about the string of losses over the last four years, the allegations of rape against its defacto nominee for president, the literal smell of feces in the Capitol building, and the colossal money settlement levied against its propaganda media arm less than 30 days ago for their part in the Big Lie. The problem is the rank and file, including the party leaders, have been lukewarm—despite that shame—in fear of angering the red hats.
As much as what is left of the Republican party of our fathers does not want to admit they are no better than Al-Qaeda. Whoa, whoa, what is he writing? I am sure you are saying to yourselves. A little hyperbolic, others are thinking, but let us examine the premise. We condemn Al-Qaeda for using violence to control dissent. We denounce their efforts to control women, keep the population ignorant, and corruption in the courts and military. Most disturbing to America is that Al-Qaeda demands allegiance to a theocracy. If you translate Al-Qaeda into English, it means foundation or base.
Women in anti-abortion states like Texas have reportedly been forced to carry dead and non-viable fetuses. Award-winning books are banned in some states, including textbooks. The military has instituted programs to root out white nationalism, and more than one Congressperson has said the Bible supersedes the Constitution. So despite the protest of the GOP-BASE, maybe Professor Johnson’s assertion is not far-fetched hyperbole but prophetic.
