The ‘what about…. chorus’
Kevin McCarthy, admitted on FOX News’ Sean Hannity program 9/29/2015, with brazen aplomb, that the Benghazi investigation is a partisan, (money eating) exercise in dirty back room politics. Carly Fiorina, with even more zeal and assurance challenged the President of the United States and the former Secretary of State to view a non-existent video clip (depicting a non-existent brutal crime against a newborn baby) and maintain their moral high ground, “I dare you!” she quietly shouted. Congressman McCarthy not only spoke about the misguided and dishonest attempts to discredit Hillary Clinton, but boasted the ability to cover up deceptive practices, as an attribute. Fiorina’s move onto the main stage of the Republican debates based her virulent attacks against Planned Parenthood, an organization with a proven track record of service for the poor and underinsured, into fantasy land. I myself would like to see the decision to have an abortion circumvented with contraception, education and morality, I would also like to see the end of the death penalty but I am now told not only does the rightwing want to control death but also life( God complex much..?). I am not willing to intrude into the heartfelt decision of any woman facing a lifesaving decision or hardship that could have disastrous results for her and her family. I am not qualified to render decisions on how life is started or ended. If it were that easy there’d be no debate. For those who want to point out, “the other side does the same thing,” have now reduced their arguments from a reasoned or rationed defense to, “but what about…? Pointing out the shortcomings of others does not lengthen your credibility, honesty or believability.
